Raumr
History
Raumr is not that of an average lion or tiger. Actually, he is from a long line of Ligers that have created a pride in the deep jungles of a far away continent. There, lions and tigers were forced to comingle due to human invasiveness. Instead of fighting over territory and attempting to eradicate each other, they decided to grow and breed together, creating a new breed and ultimately new species of feline that was far superior than their ancestors.
Due to the genetic shifts between the species, different color variations arrived and began to present themselves. Their cubs grew larger, stronger, smarter. They no longer needed to fear those that had pushed them down. Now they could rise above and take what was once theirs.
Raumr's grandfather, Raumr Regalus, the First (Rah-mur Reh-gahl-us), proved his might against the mighty Tidalus long before Raumr was born. Stepping up to be the newly crowned King of the Obsidian Plains, he had great hopes for his offspring. Raumr, the Second, did not disappoint. He was far mightier, stronger, and powerful than his father and his own hope for great sons carried on. Until Raumr arrived.
There is no doubt that Raumr is capable. He is large, strong, and powerful in strength, but his mother is a docile queen. A female of dignity, passiveness, and peace. She did not wish to raise a son to be bloodthirsty and cruel like that of his father or grandfather. In secret, she raised him to be kind, to be thoughtful, to be loving. Two bold worlds clashed, Raumr soon confused as to who he wanted to be or truly could.
Destined to be crowned upon the retirement of his father, Raumr was challenged. A rival son from Raumr, the Second, and a different female, stepped up to the plate. Daedaur wanted what he believed to be truly his, but without the name, he was merely a bastard. Before the pride, he declared he would fall Raumr and take what was his, but Raumr had different plans. A ruse, a fake death. Due to his mother's gentle care, he cared not to rule. He didn't believe the pride could change and thus allowing Daedaur to rule, he would be free of the guilt and stress that came with the crown.
On the night of his crowning, he said his good byes. Quiet and sorrowful, tears in his eyes, he stepped out before the pride. With Daedaur at his back, he turns to the dark coated rival. Their eyes meet, two of coal and two of embers, one would spiral the pride down into oblivion, but Raumr would never know that outcome. To make it believable, that he could truly be bested by Daedaur, Raumr allows the lion to scar him. Claws mar his pearlescent fur and skin, blood soaking his legs and tawny face. As he is backed up and pushed over the edge of the rock platform where his supply pack waits for him on the ground below, he resolves to never return.
Limping and conflicted, Raumr leaves his homeland to travel as far away as he can. Seasons pass and many journeys lay ahead of him, but the shores of Auster can be seen not far off...
